Repost: McAfee Global Digital Asset Survey

McAfee worked with MSI International to conduct a global survey of “more than 3,000 consumers in 10 countries about the financial value they would assign to digital assets.” They found that people in the U.S. valued their digital assets at an average of almost $55,000.

But this survey is not new. The survey was conducted in 2011, and did not even mention cryptocurrency or NFTs. Personal memories received the highest valuation, at an average of almost $19,000 per person. The $55,000 figure included “entertainment files (i.e. music downloads), personal memories (i.e. photographs), personal communications (i.e. emails or notes), personal records (i.e. health, financial, insurance), career information (i.e. resumes, portfolios, cover letters, email contacts) and hobbies and creative projects.” That would represent $75,000 today based on inflation alone and before taking into account the dramatic expansion of digital assets since then.
